The record-breaking cold temperatures that have blanketed the southwest for the past week are finally in the past.

Environment and Climate Change Canada originally issued an extreme cold warning last Thursday and have finally lifted the warning this afternoon. These warnings are issued when the temperature or wind chill is expected to reach -40 C for at least two hours.

Daytime highs over the next couple of days are near the -20 mark with wind chills around -36 still with a risk of frostbite. However, later into the week Swift Current is forecasted to return to seasonal norms.
