There is less than one week left to enjoy an outdoor swim at the Fairview Pool.

As the leaves change, and fall sets in, the staff are prepared for the upcoming season at the Aquatic Centre.

The doors will close for the year this coming Monday. The day will see fairly regular scheduling, with public swimming until 5 p.m. followed by lane swimming from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m. the season will officially conclude with an hour of set aside for the ‘Pooch Plunge.’

Melissa Shaw, the city of Swift Current’s aquatic superintendent, said that the season was a massive change from the previous year.

“When the province lifted most of their restrictions, we were able to lift most of our restrictions,” she said. “We've kept up with our increased sanitization, but all of our capped patron members went away. Parents no longer required to be in the pool for swimming lessons. You know we really got to enjoy a great summer and the families were able to come and enjoy the pool and for a few minutes forget that there was any other things going on.”

As for the upcoming season at the Aquatic Centre, Shaw explained that they will continue enhanced cleaning protocols, but are looking forward to an essentially normal season.

The Aquatic Centre will be open to the public on September 8, with a full day of programming including lane swimming, family swimming and swimming lessons.
