Residents across three Provinces and one State watched the night sky light up early Monday morning.

Shortly before 7:30 am on February 22, a meteor entered Earth's atmosphere. The spectacular sight was mostly visible in Alberta, though sightings from Saskatchewan, British Columbia and USA State Montana were reported.

The American Meteor Society received over 400 reports about the meteor that is officially classified as a fireball.

A fireball is a meteor that burns brighter than the planet Venus.

A computer generated path formed from reported sightings appears to show the fireball taking a short route just North of Edmonton.
