The Swift Current City RCMP rang in the new year with a drug bust within minutes of the calendar flipping to 2022.

At 12:01 a.m. on New Years Day, the Highway Patrol unit contacted the City RCMP for assistance with a vehicle they had stopped on the 900 block of Central Avenue North.

Upon a vehicle search, RCMP uncovered a weapon (a hammer), drugs (cocaine), cash, and electronic devices.

According to the City RCMP, the cocaine and cash seized from the male suspect were valued under $1,000.

An adult male was arrested during the incident and will be charged with; one count of possession of a weapon, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
