1930
Elm Farm Ollie becomes the first cow to fly in a fixed-wing aircraft and also the first cow to be milked in an aircraft.

1946
Stores in Canada were prepared for the first sale of nylon stockings since the beginning of the Second World War. Most stores hired extra security and handed out tickets to be exchanged for nylons in an effort to control the crowds. Some companies allowed their female employees time off so that they could take their places in the lineups. Although most stores ran out of stock within 20 minutes, all expected further shipments by the end of the month.

1947
Newspapers report on the discovery of potash while drilling for oil near Unity. It is called one of the most important mineral discoveries in Saskatchewan history.

1980
Pierre Elliott Trudeau defeats Joe Clark in the general election 146 seats to 103, wins majority government after nine months out of office; there are now no Liberal MPs west of Winnipeg.

2001
Auto racing star Dale Earnhardt Sr., 49, died from injuries suffered in a crash at the Daytona 500.

2003
The Mennonite Heritage Church from Gouldtown has a new home.
The church has been relocated to the Mennonite Heritage Village in Swift Current.
The move was performed by Hallam Moving, and Manager Douglas Hallam says the move went fairly well, but slight caution was taken due to the age of the church.

2005
SaskTel has announced that they are looking to beef up cell phone coverage in the Province and serve those areas that are currently being un-served.
It’s a $28 million investment.
Coverage improvements include towns such as Cabri, Richmound and Frontier are just a couple of the un-served areas that will see service now.

President Barack Obama is floating the idea of charging a fee for every Canadian entering the U.S. by air or sea.
The proposal is outlined in the 2012 federal draft budget he submitted to Congress on Monday.
The $5.50 fee would not apply to visitors arriving in private vehicles.
Visitors from Canada, Mexico and a number of Caribbean countries are currently exempt from "passenger inspection fees."
Obama's budget blueprint proposes lifting those exemptions and using the revenue from the charges to support air passenger inspections which have recently grown more intensive.

His career faced a resurgence in the 1990s with his role in Pulp Fiction, and he has since continued starring in Hollywood films including Face/Off, Ladder 49, and Wild Hogs

Vanna White -54- She is known for being the hostess and puzzle-board turner of Wheel of Fortune since 1982.
White is an avid crochet and knitting enthusiast and has a line of yarns called "Vanna's Choice" through Lion Brand Yarns
