Over the weekend, the 2018 Frontier Days Ambassador was officially crowned.
Adrianna Simpson was named the ambassador earlier this month and after weeks of waiting she received her crown and sash in a quick ceremony during the seventh-annual Poultry and Exotic Animal Sale on Saturday.

Simpson, a Grade 10 student from Kyle, said that to named the ambassador is a dream come true.

"Being named the ambassador this year is definitely a milestone I've wanted to reach for quite a few years now," she said. "It's taken a lot of hard work to get here, and I'm excited to meet some new people and work with other influential people this year."

Simpson said that she always wanted to be named ambassador.

"I wanted to be the ambassador for quite a few years just to showcase and tell kids about leadership," she said. "I wanted to give them information about what we do on ranches. I wanted to show them that trying hard and never giving up can get you very far in life."

To go along with being the ambassador, Simpson will also receive a $2,000 scholarship.

"Receiving this $2,000 scholarship is going to help me in many ways," she said. "I want to go to Lakeland for business ag, so I'm really excited that Frontier Days not only helps me with 4H but also helps me get my career."

Tracey Stevenson, the manager of the Swift Current Ag & Ex, said that she expects Simpson to do a great job.

"She's going to be a great educator for our organization," she said. "She's part of 4H, she's ride horse, she's part of the Saskatchewan Stock Growers, she's just very agricultural related, and she's going to do an awesome job for us."

As for what Simpson will be doing as the ambassador she will hold the Canada flag during the parade, helping with the pancake breakfast and walking around the grounds providing people with information, something that she is both nervous and excited to do.

Frontier Days kicks off in under two months with opening night on June 28.
