It feels good to give back where you can.

That's exactly what Pioneer Co-Ops 'Fuel Good Day' is all about.

Early this week on Tuesday, Pioneer Co-op locations across southwestern Saskatchewan donated $0.10 for every litre of fuel sold, as well as $1 for every coffee and big cool slushie sold.

Larry Kozun, CEO of Pioneer Cooperative Association Limited, expressed excitement about the success of the day.

"Pioneer Co-op is pleased with another successful Fuel Good Day," said Kozun. "We were able to surpass our last year's total."

They managed to raise enough money to present a cheque for just over $10,000 to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) in Swift Current. The CMHA is receiving the money tomorrow, when its executive director, Todd Vallee, will be presented with the cheque by Pioneer Co-op's board of directors.

"A big thank you to everyone who supported this event in the 19 communities that Pioneer Co-op serves in the great southwest," said Kozun.

Across all those 19 locations, fuel purchases averaged over 1,400 litres sold throughout the day. That can be attributed to the over 1,000 customers who supported this event, helping to fund the folks over at CMHA with the money generated through this community effort.
