windscape 2012

While the official Windscape Kite Festival is still a few months away, you can still get out and let your kite fly this weekend.

From 1:00-4:00pm today, you can take your kites out for a fun fly that will celebrate kite flying month, and lead into the big show, the Windscape Kite Festival coming up this summer.

"We'll all be out there flying our kites," said Swift Current's Cultural Events Coordinator, Shann Gowan, "we were gifted a great big bear kite from the German Club, so we'll try to get the bear up there, and it's just a nice formal afternoon for families."

Gowan added if you don't have a kite of your own, you can come down and watch or try flying some of the kites they'll have provided with experts.

The event is free and runs and the Windscape Kite field on the outskirts of the city.

The Windscape Kite Festival that features Juno Award winner Serena Ryder runs June 22nd and 23rd.
