The Grand Coteau Heritage and Cultural Center in Shaunavon has launched a 50/50 Raffle to raise funds for the installation of a vertical accessibility lift at the Center.

Director of Culture for The Town of Shaunavon, Joanne Gregoire, says that the lift that is there now has become obsolete and needs replacing.

"We were fortunate enough to receive a generous part of the cost of replacement from the MEEP Grant through the Town of Shaunavon. So, that would have replaced what we have, but what we actually want to do is replace it with a vertical lift. So, it's more of a vertical platform elevator style lift that we're wanting to install just because it will be way easier to use."

Gregoire says they have had a very generous anonymous donation of $15,000 towards the lift, but some more fundraising is needed.

The 50/50 Raffle tickets are ten dollars each and, with a maximum of 500 tickets sold, there will be three chances to win.

All money raised will go towards the purchase of the new lift.

Tickets can be purchased at the Grand Coteau Museum, the Shaunavon Library, at the Town of Shaunavon office, or at Jae's Pharmacy in Shaunavon.

Draw date is April 9.
