This Saturday, April 6 marks the one year anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. It's a somber day that noone will ever forget, but for Ryan Gobeil the impact of that day runs much deeper than for many of us. His brother Morgan was seriously injured and was only recently released from the hospital. Morgan is doing better but still has a long road of recovery in front of him.

Ryan wanted to do something for his brother and for all the first responders and emergency service personnel for all they did on that horrific day. Last year and last weekend he organized two charity rec hockey tournaments in Swift Current complete with entertainment and a banquet with proceeds going to Stars Air Ambulance. Last years tourament raised $55,000 and although the final numbers are not in from this year, Ryan says the total should be in that ballpark again which means around 100 grand or more for Stars from these two great events.

One of the most rewarding parts of this years event was Morgan was able to attend.  Ryan says:"That was a neat thing for our family. That was his first time out in public since April 6 of last year so it was a cool experience for us and he responded very well."

In raising money for Stars Ryan says:"You know I think part of life is making sure you appreciate the people who support you and Stars is obviously the primary reason I still have a brother to visit with all the time and so we're just looking forward to giving back lots over the coming years."

Well done Ryan and all the best to your brother Morgan on his road to recovery. Ryan gets this weeks eagle applause and a gift card from Schultz's Ranch Country Meats in Morse...The Taste of Tradition From The Heart of Ranch Country.
