Grass Fire Northwest of Swift Current

A large grass fire burned this afternoon just off of Eleventh Avenue Northwest in the Highland subdivision in Swift Current.

It burned a large section of grass while heavy winds gusted and threatened nearby homes.

We received a report that residents came out and fought off the fire with hoses before the fire department arrived.

The blaze has been since put out by the local fire department.

There as no reported serious damage to the homes themselves.
