The Saskatchewan Green Party is voicing their opinion on the Coyote Control Program.

Green Party Leader, Larissa Shasko, says bounties on predator animals in particular are difficult because they generally end up killing off the weak, which means the adult males are left to flourish.  The coyote is such an adaptive animal, so coyotes actually end up having larger litters of pups when their numbers are reduced, so bounties are highly unsuccessful.

Shasko says the issue should be researched, and there should be a conference to look at other options, such as using the money from the Coyote Control Program, around $360,000, for cost subsidies for fencing or guard dogs.

Shasko adds that the bounty was probably the least logical solution for the problem.
