The Gull Lake and District Ambulance Service has been working hard to raise funds for two new power stretchers and a new cardiac monitor.

Chief Dave Waiser said it’s been close to three years of saving up to cover the cost, which in total came to almost $69,000.

“Ambulance equipment and purchasing medical supplies is essentially a license to print money,” he said. "The stretchers are worth $27,000 apiece. They assist with the lifting, and the cardiac monitor is good because it allows us to better diagnose our patients.”

The emergency service is a non-profit that is contracted through the Saskatchewan Health Authority, which allows them to be able to fundraise like this.

“We're pretty fortunate that the community and our partners that own us, they really support us.”

All money raised and generated from anything they do stays with them, to help better serve the southwest.
