Tonight is Halloween. And that means trick or treaters will be out in full force.

Sargent Dan Archibald with the Shaunavon RCMP has some rules for trick or treaters to follow this evening.

He says, "Carry a flashlight so you can see where you're going, and so people can see you. Try and walk, don't run. Stay on the sidewalk. If there's no sidewalk, walk on the left side of the road facing traffic. Young children, ideally, should be accompanied by an adult. Wear clothing with reflective marking tape. Trick or treat in groups if you can. Never enter a stranger's home or car for a treat. Although tampering with candy is rare nowadays, it still happens, so tell children to bring home candy so it can be inspected before consuming anything."

Motorists are reminded to slow down the speed and watch for youngsters out trick or treating, and pet owners are encouraged to keep their pets inside this evening. Halloween can be very frightening for your pets.

Sargent Archibald says RCMP officers will be patrolling the community this evening as well.
