The CEO of the Cypress Health Region is pleased with the increase in fundng to health regions in Wednesday's provincial budget.

Beth Vachon says the money being allocated this year means a solid increase for healthcare in southwest Saskatchewan:

Vachon says there are some areas that health regions could be targeting with the increase in funding including the Saskatchewan Surgical Initiative, primary healthcare re-design, e-health, and patient safety.

Vachon adds at this point they don't know what the status of a new long-term care facility for Swift Current is with no announcement in the budget for capital healthcare projects.

Last year's provincial budget funding to regional health authorities was 3%.
