It's a simple freedom that many of us take for granted..being able to drive to the lake, or attend social gatherings. Some people require a special vehicle and physical help to get out and about.

The Shaunavon Handi Van Association is a group that has been formed to make these simple freedoms available to people in Shaunavon and area.

Crystal Elliott is the Volunteer Director of the Shaunavon Handi Van Association. She says, "The Shaunavon Handi Van Association is a group that intends to make getting around easier for those who require a little help. Not only will this specialized Handi Van be available for those who live at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Center, but anyone in the surrounding area."

In order to use the Van, people will need to have a valid driver's license and must fill out a form for approval by the Association. They must pay for the gas they use themselves.

Elliott says the Association is looking to raise just over $100,000 and numerous fund raising projects are in the planning stages. There is also a Launch being planned as well.

Anyone wishing to make a donation can drop it off at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Center, or phone 297-1972.
