Jennifer Jones and Team Canada followed up Saturday's thrilling win at the Ford World Women's Curling Championships with a 6-4 victory over Switzerland in Draw 4 action at the Credit Union iplex in Swift Current.

Jones improved greatly from the opener, curling at 91%, rebounding from 68% in Draw 2.  She says they kept it a little simpler, and they feel more comfortable with the ice now, so hopes they will get stronger as the week goes on.  She also made a huge triple-takeout for one in the 8th end to go up 6-3.  She says the shot was a huge momentum change, and she knew, when they made it, they had control.

Meanwhile, the Americans suffered their first loss and became a trivia answer of sorts, as Latvia claimed their first-ever win at the World Women's Championship, uspsetting the USA 7-6.  Skip Iveta Stasa-Sarsune said post-game that this game proves they can compete at the world level, and their fans are likely going crazy back home in Latvia.

The other games in Draw 4 had Russia edging Japan 7-6 in an extra end, and Sweden beat Norway 9-5, shaking hands after nine ends.

After four draws, Canada and Germany are tied for the lead at 2-0, while the USA and Russia share third with 2-1 records.

Attendance was outstanding again, with 2,410 fans taking in the afternoon draw.  So far, more than 9,000 people have attended the draws.

Day 2 comes to a close tonight with Draw 5, which has Canada taking on Norway, winless China battling Scotland, Germany squaring off with Denmark, and Sweden facing Switzerland.  The draw starts at 7:00pm at the Credit Union iplex.
