2010 is the 90th Anniversary of Kinsmen and Kinettes in Canada, and this coming week is Kinsmen and Kinette Week in Swift Current.

It was on February 20, 1920, that the first club, founded by Hal Rodgers of Hamilton, Ontario, held its first meeting.

With Kinsmen Telemiracle 34 just two weeks away, the local clubs are on a big push to raise money for the cause.

The Kinsmen are doing their Ugly Car fundraiser again, and member Mike Campbell says the Kinsmen will come around the city on several evenings.  They will bring the car to your house, and you can either keep it, or elect to make a donation to TeleMiracle.  Then, the car is taken to the next place.

They will also be 'passing the bucket' at next Saturday's Bronco game.

Yvonne Laviolette with the Kinettes says they're putting on a "Rock-a-Thon" on Friday to support Telemiracle.  Girls in Grades 4 to 7 are invited to take part in a sleepover and sit in rocking chairs to raise money through pledges.
