It's been a tough go for the Swift Current Broncos who are now losers of 11 straight after an 11-1 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings yesterday.

One bright spot as of late is rookie import forward Joona Kiviniemi.

Kiviniemi recorded his third assist in the last three games in yesterday's loss, he has six points in his last eight games, and is now tied for fourth in team scoring with 22 points.

In his first interview with Swift Current Online this season since arriving from Oulu, Finland, the first-round import selection said it took some feeling out, but he's definitely comfortable with life in the WHL and Canada.

"It was a little bit weird in the start, but when I got more games, it was easier," Kiviniemi admitted.

Kiviniemi also has the team lead with 15 goals on the season - a mark good for T-6 in the WHL among rookies.

As for his production as of late, the 17-year-old said his confidence rose with more physicality.

"I think I've used more of my body - hit guys more, just shoot more."

Kiviniemi and the Broncos take on the Calgary Hitmen today at 11 a.m. Mountain Time / 12 p.m. Sask time.
