The Town of Leader will see emergency services at their hospital close indefinitely starting today (Monday).

Due to a shortage of physicians, a temporary disruption of services will start this morning at 8:00am until further notice.  This comes after two doctors left the community recently.

Emergency out-patient services, acute admissions, and physician on-call services will not be available.  The hospital be open from 8:30am-5:00pm on weekdays, with lab and x-ray services open until 4:30pm each day.  Residents needing emergency care are urged to call 911 for an ambulance.

In the meantime, the Cypress Health Region says they are continuing to work with the Leader Physician Recruitment Committee to help attract new doctors.

The community's clinic is currently served by a Nurse Practitioner, and a physician on a temporary license.
