A fresh new look for the Swift Current Legionnaires was launched this past weekend.

The U18 AAA hockey club will now be sporting blue, green, and white - the same colour palette as the Swift Current Broncos.

"We wanted to make our brand a little more orientated with the community and I think the Broncos colours have been a big part of that," Legionnaires Head Coach Todd Hornung said. "With everybody coming up through minor hockey wearing the same, we wanted to get to that."

Their logo will also take a drastic change from S.C. white and blue lettering to a veteran with a green cap on with SC in the left corner.

"We've been looking at trying to rebrand a little bit and get back to the roots of the team and pay tribute to the men and women that have sacrificed for our country," he said.

The Vanguard product believes now is the perfect time for the team to write a new chapter in its history with a plethora of local talent set to join the team.

"We have a pretty good local flavour this year, a lot of kids being drafted to the Broncos as well, we want to make sure we're trying to help our southwest area as much as we can," he said. "There are some pretty high-skilled kids in the area and we're excited about that."

The Legionnaires roster will include three recent Broncos draftees in Parker Rondeau, Berney Weston, and Wesley Olson.

Hornung's hope is the rebranding mixed with a roster featuring several southwest players will lead to larger attendance numbers.
