The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires fell 6-2 to the Regina Pat Canadians in the opening game of the best-of-five SMAAAHL semi-final on Tuesday at Co-operators Centre.

The Pat-C's jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period on goals from Steven Steranka, Jonah Sivertson and Reid Bechard. Griffin Darby and Porter Nickason got the Legionnaires within one in the second period, but Casey Brown and Dayce Derkatch helped restore Regina's three-goal lead after 40 minutes, and Sivertson added his second of the game to wrap up the scoring in the third period.

Berney Weston made 39 saves in the loss as Regina outshot Swift Current 45-32.

The Legionnaires host game two of the series Thursday night at 7:15 p.m. from Innovationplex.
