The 2019 WHL Cup gets underway today from the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary.

There's southwest ties to all four provincial team rosters in attendance.

Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires rookie forward Jakin Lawrence is the lone Team Sask rep. The Rosetown product currently has three goals in 11 games for the Legionnaires, and was drafted in the sixth round (130th overall) by the Lethbridge Hurricanes this past May.

Team Manitoba houses a trio of 2019 Swift Current Broncos draft picks spread evenly between forward, defence, and goalie:

- Reid Dyck (goaltender) - third round, 45th overall
- Sam Court (defenceman) - third round, 46th overall
- Karson King (forward) - sixth round, 111th overall

Both of the Broncos' first-rounders from this spring's draft are up front and on the blueline for Team BC:

- Mathew Ward (forward) - 14th overall
- Tyson Jugnauth (defenceman) - 21st overall

Rounding out the pack is Broncos' 2019 draft pick Josh Davies, who graces the Team Alberta roster.

Davies was a fan-favourite in the preseason for the Broncos, after Swift Current drafted him in the third round (54th overall).

Day 1 action pits Team Sask against Team BC at 3 p.m., then Team Alberta and Team Manitoba battle at 6 p.m.
Sask plays BC and Alberta faces Manitoba on Day 1.

We'll have the recap for you on Swift Current Online Thursday morning.
