Today is National Aboriginal Day and the Living Sky Casino in Swift Current is celebrating First Nations' culture.

Casino General Manager Lionel Tootoosis said June 21st is a significant day for First Nations people.

"When you look at the summer solstice, it's a day of prayer," explained Tootoosis. "It's the longest day of the year, it's one of the most powerful times to pray. It's always been significant for First Nations people, and the government chose to look at this date as to celebrate the Aboriginal cultures we have in Canada."

Tootoosis said they will feature some First Nations' cuisine in their restaurant.

"We've got bison. We've got some First Nations flair to some of the dishes we normally serve," Tootoosis said.

The Casino also had a Tipi raising with cake and refreshments.
