There will be a shift in the shadow cabinet for Conservative Party of Canada when the House of Commons resumes on September 18.

Newly elected Conservative leader Andrew Scheer has moved Cypress Hills-Grasslands MP David Anderson out of his role as Official Opposition Critic for Agriculture.

Although Anderson was moved out of his role as Official Opposition Critic for Agriculture, he is retaining Opposition Critic for International Human Rights and Religious Freedom.

"Well I'm excited to be able to continue in the role of shadow cabinet member for human rights and religious rights," Anderson said.

He also noted he had a conversation with Scheer about continuing his role in human rights and religious rights and new Conservative leader gave him the go ahead to continue his work.

The Frontier native has been working on a number of human rights and religious rights issues for the better part of a decade and he's eager to get back to work.

"I'm looking forward to this fall," he said. "We will have hearings on motion 103, which everyone is familiar with from last spring. Then we will be moving forward on some national and international initiatives on these issues, so I'm looking forward to the fall as it will be fun to get back."

Motion 103 calls on the Government of Canada to condemn Islamophobia within the country.
