Swift Current's own Connie Rayner-led senior women's curling team is off to Provincials after securing the eighth and final spot over the weekend.

At the Senior Women's Q2 qualifier in Shellbrook, the Swift Current Curling Club's Rayner rink secured the fourth provincial spot of the bonspiel via tie-breaker.

It was a rough start for the team, as they worked a 1-3 record in the round robin, though all were tight games.

The Rayner team lost 6-5 to Team Swiderski, 6-5 to Team Fernquist, and 8-7 to Team Hodson. Needing a win in their fourth round robin game, the Rayner rink won 8-7 over Team Kopach.

They then earned a 7-5 victory over the Christopher Lake-based Swiderski rink in the tie-breaker, exacting revenge for the one-shot loss in their opener.

The Rayner rink will be one of eight teams battling for a senior women's provincial title in Rosetown from February 27 - March 3.

The team is made up of Melody Robertson (lead), Kim Kirkpatrick (second), Kathleen Hopfner (third), and Connie Rayner (skip).
