A popular Swift Current welding art showcase will be making its return to in-person in a few months.

Tickets for Great Plains College's Carhartts and Caviar welding programs art show went on sale Monday, with the event itself will take place on March 10 in the school gymnasium.

Event organizer Jerrod Mackenzie is looking forward to this year's fundraiser. They always see a tremendous turnout every year, but this year will be special because of the return of face-to-face interactions with the community.

"We're going to be happy to be back holding a live event again, I think everybody is looking forward to that," Mackenzie stated. "It's an event that's become pretty much a whole community event. They come out in full support. We sell out very quickly every year, and you know the community comes and stands behind this event."

With this year's return to normalcy, people can expect to see the fine craftsmanship on display in person.

"This year, we're going to have an amazing river table dining set that's going to be absolutely off the charts," Mackenzie explained. "It's gorgeous. Somewhere in there, people are going to have some pure art pieces; some wall art pieces, and stuff like that. And we brought back Junkyard Wars again this year with a student competition, and so that's all finished up and the pieces look absolutely amazing."

This event raises thousands of dollars every year to put towards school scholarships in the community. As students get older and schools get more expensive, the program contributes the money towards furthering their education goals.

"It does raise tens of thousands of dollars," said MacKenzie. "The dollar amount that we've raised in the last 10 years, it's astronomical."

The first nine years of the event have raised approximately $200,000.
