You should expect some delays when driving on the 13th Avenue NE bridge next month.

The City of Swift Current is rebuilding the expansion joints on the bridge starting July 27th, which is a project that is expected to last six weeks.

Engineering Manager Trevor Feicht says the joints are deteriorating, and rebuilding them will protect the integrity of the bridge.

Feicht adds, while work is in progress, traffic on 13th Ave NE will be reduced to one lane over the bridge, and the pedestrian crossing will be closed for the first three weeks.  He adds that they are hopeful the walkway will re-open in time for the start of the school year.
