RCMP report that the man involved in a standoff yesterday with police is not in custody and will not be charged.

Swift Current Municipal RCMP received a complaint of a distraught adult male at a residence in SwiftCurrent yesterday. Initial investigation revealed there was possible firearms in the residence.

"Due to the seriousness of the incident and the proximity to other residences and members of the public, our RCMP Emergency Response Team andassistance from Alberta RCMP- they were deployed to assist with the situation," said Mandy Maier, spokesperson for the RCMP.

At 10:00 p.m. the male exited the residence and was arrested without incident by members of the ERT team. He was transported to hospital and is no longer in police custody, no charges will be laid.

Maier said that the man was alone in the home during yesterday's incident.

"We definitely appreciate the positive response the public had for our members on scene, respecting the boundaries at the scene. And now that the incident is concluded - a very sensitive situation, we all need to be very mindful of the people that are involved in these situations. So, we definitely ask the public to be mindful of the comments that they make on social media," Maier added.

She says any comments violating their terms of use on the Saskatchewan RCMP's Facebook page will be removed.
