A spa in Maple Creek was surprised recently when they found out that they had won the Service Excellence Award as part of the Saskatchewan Tourism Awards Of Excellence.

The Northern Lights Vintage Spa is owned by Kathy Schneider and Shelley O'Hare and has been in business since 2015.

O'Hare reflected on why she thinks they were nominated for the award.

"Because we're probably unique in the area. The other thing is our spa has been very successful. Anybody who has come through here is very impressed with it."

The spa entices people to travel far near and as far away as BC and Edmonton.

O'Hare reveals their reaction to finding out they had won the award.

"We were kind of taken back cause this was the first time we have ever been nominated and we were quite happy to have been in the three finalists. So we thought it will be what it will be and it was great that we at least got this far to the final three."

The women both said they were also shocked when they won because they are a relatively new business compared to their competitors in the category.

The recognition is pretty wonderful according to O'Hare and Schneider.

Northern Lights Vintage Spa offers a range of massages along with facials, pedicures and manicures amongst other services.
