Things seem to be moving closer to wrapping up for a couple facing hundreds of charges across multiple provinces.

Dustin Purvis and Katelyn Koury were arrested west of Kyle at the White Bear Hotel in December and were charged with over 70 offences by Saskatchewan RCMP and at least 165 by the Ontario Provincial Police.

They went on an alleged crime spree, with many of the counts being theft related, from northeastern Ontario west to where they were arrested after arriving at the hotel asking for lodging, saying they had no money or identification.

Purvis and Koury are in custody and appeared together by video in Swift Current Provincial Court this morning from separate facilities.

They have their next appearance scheduled for March 27 in Swift Current Provincial Court.

Rod Simaluk appeared by phone as the defence for Purvis and said that they're close to reaching a deal with Crown Prosecutor Curtis Wiebe.

Adrian McBride is the defence for Koury, and said they've had "very good discussions with the Crown."
