For the second time in the 21st century, the Swift Current Broncos have advanced to the third round of the WHL playoffs igniting Broncos nation even more.

One of those Broncos fans is Swift Current Mayor Denis Perrault who believes this long playoff run can have a lot of positive impacts on Swift Current.

"There are the real simple ones we can see, with our restaurants full, our hotels full, and just the general buzz and positivity that's happening," he said. "It's great economic impact and it's also just great for everyone's attitude and spirits."

The first-term mayor said the support the team has received over the past year has been phenomenal.

"It's been Broncos nation just getting better and better," Perrault said. "It's just so exciting and it's just been fantastic for the whole community of Swift, but of course the southwest too. It's just been a great time."

With the Broncos upending the Moose Jaw Warriors in the second round, it means Moose Jaw Mayor Fraser Tolmie will have to pay up for another lost bet to Perrault.

"He'll be flying the (Broncos) flag here pretty quick," the Swift Current Broncos season ticket holder said. "I also left him my jersey when I was there Monday... and he'll be wearing that proudly."

Perrault is now 3-0 against Tolmie in city bets as the Broncos beat the Warriors in back-to-back years and the Swift Current 57's also took down the Moose Jaw Miller Express last year in the WMBL playoffs.
