After five years with the Swift Current Broncos as Head Coach and General Manager, things have progressed quite nicely for Todd Mclellan.

Mclellan just finished up his rookie season as an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings serving under Mike Babcock.

Mclellan says at the NHL level, it all comes down to wins and that's the bottom line.  He says he learned a lot in his first season in Detroit, especially with some sure-fire hall of famers on the roster like Steve Yzerman, Brendan Shanahan and Chris Chelios.

Although Mclellan was happy with a league-best regular season, he says your always judged on how close you get to the Stanley Cup.  He admits the first-round loss to Edmonton was dissapointing.

Like most assistant coaches, Mclellan aspires to be a head coach at the NHL level.
