The Saskatchewan Mixed Curling Championship at the Swift Current Curling Club wrapped up on Sunday with a local team winning it all.

Skip Shaun Meachem, third Kelly Schafer and Chris & Teejay Haichert on the front end went unbeaten in the event and defeated the Tyler Hartung rink 6-5 in Sunday’s final to earn their second provincial championship. The team also won the green jacket in 2019, and narrowly missed the playoffs at the 2020 Canadian Mixed Championship, finishing 5th in their pool.

For the Haicherts, it’s their third provincial mixed title having won with skip Max Kirkpatrick in 2014. That team won the national championship and made the quarterfinals at the world championship in 2015.

The Meachem rink now moves on to the 2023 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, which will take place in November at a location to be determined by Curling Canada.
