It was mission accomplished for Swift Current's Meghan Chisholm.

The 19 year old successfully completed her swim across the English Channel yesterday as part of a fundraiser for JDRF.

Meghan's Father, John Chisholm sent our newsroom an email describing some of the details from his daughters swim.  "At one point during the swim the seas become rougher and the wind had picked up, but Meghan never slowed down or tired...at times with up to nine feet waves," described John.

Due to the waves and changing currents Meghan ended up swimming a total of 48.5 kilometres instead of the original 34 kilometres distance between the French channels with a total swim time of 14 hours and 39 minutes.

Meghan even had to contend with jelly fish stinging her during the swim in her leg; arm and nose added John.

John is very proud of what his daughter has accomplished "Meghan is truly an inspiration to our family, the province and our country, we are all very proud of our Meghan," wrote John.

Once Meghan stepped onto the shores of France she became the first Person from Saskatchewan to successfully swim the English Channel
