Cadillac's Alexandria Metke is taking a medal back home from the Canada Games in Ontario's Niagara Region, winning silver in the female wrestling 44-kilogram class.

Metke won a 3-1 decision by points over Alberta's Natasha Ekundayo in the semi-final before losing by fall 5-0 to Laila Seed-Desai of Ontario in the gold medal match. She was also part of the female team competition, where Saskatchewan finished fourth on Wednesday.

Metke competes with the Swift Current Titans Wrestling Club and the Swift Current Comprehensive High School Ardens wrestling team. She also won bronze at the Wrestling Canada freestyle national championships in the U19 46kg class in June.

Saskatchewan wrestlers won seven medals at the games on Thursday to bring the province's medal total to eight on the sixth day of competition.

The Canada Games continue to August 21.
