Seven Swift Current Taekwondo students added to their medal collection last week.

The Dan-Do Online tournament, held last month, focused on the "Poomsae"; the practice of choreographed attack and defence patterns of movement.

The seven students ranged in age from 8 to 17, and collectively gathered two silvers and five bronze medals.

Gary Voysey is the head instructor at Swift Current Christian Taekwondo.

"It was right across the nation and they did such a great job of executing this tournament. And now with COVID and opening up on July 11, we're looking forward to more 'in person' tournaments."

The judging for the Dan-do Poomsae tournament was made up of referees from across Canada. Competitors recorded and uploaded their routines for review.

The Swift Current Christian Taekwondo winners were:

  • Callie Ebner | Silver
  • Tate Unger | Silver
  • Carlos Marques Peralta | Bronze
  • Emmett Hardenne | Bronze
  • Ethan Klassen | Bronze
