Linda Dianne Bennett (nee Vanderkracht) ~~ March 18th, 1949 - November 13th , 2023 It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Linda announces the passing of our dear loving Mom/Grandma. Linda was the youngest of 3, and born in Prince Albert, Sk. When she was age 2 in 1951, the family moved to Penticton, BC when her Dad was commissioned with his masonry work to help with the Landmark placement and building of the stonework for the hillside signage for Penticton itself. She was always so proud to tell the story of his hand in that and that on her Mom’s side of the family they were amongst the first settlers in Colleston, SK with the only schoolhouse around built by her Grandfather on their land. In 1954 the family then relocated to Vancouver, BC where Mom lived until she met and married our Dad. Mom met Dad when they worked in the same restaurant, after a few years of dating they married in Vancouver, BC on February 13th, 1969. They remained in Vancouver until 1975 where they moved to Penticton, then Kamloops as Dad was transferred to run various kitchens as a Chef. In 1977 Dad bought into the Pizza Hut Franchise and relocated our family to Williams Lake, BC to follow his dream of owning his own restaurant. Mom helped him get the business up and running while also raising us 3 kids. Two years later they moved us out of the city onto the farm where Mom loved having her vegetable garden and livestock from cattle to chickens and pigs, as well as stray cats and our dogs. She taught us how to be self- sustaining with all of these as well as foraging for wild berries and various wild plants. And how to preserve our food from the farm with canning, dehydrating etc. Both our parents loved the outdoors where we also spent a lot of time camping and fishing. They were huge on family time. Including us also helping others and teaching us to never hesitated to lend a hand up. They both were heavily involved in Kinsmen & Kinettes, the farm & ranch community we lived in and later 4-H with us kids. They taught us to share with others, gift to others when we could, to never stop learning and follow our dreams and passions. Later as empty nesters, Mom followed her dream of being a care aide for several years. After the passing of the young lady Mom cared for, Mom & Dad decided to become Foster parents where they did this for 20+ years until shortly after Dad passed away and Mom made the decision to move back to Saskatchewan where Trish (her daughter) had moved to. Linda is survived by: Their Children; Michael (Heather), Trisha Hallam (Lloyd). Sisters; Joyce Brodie and Ruth Gates.
