The Saskatchewan Blue Cross Walk is MS Society's largest fundraiser in the province to raise money for research and services for people with Multiple Sclerosis.

On May 15, Swift Current will be holding its 5 km walk at Ashley Park Community and the efforts to raise money for the campaign has already begun.

"Last year, we had a total of a 148 walks across Canada, there's eleven happening here in Saskatchewan," said Colleen Hennan, community engagement coordinator with the MS Society. "Not only is it our largest fundraiser, it's also meant to be a day of celebration and for the people who live with MS in the community of Swift Current to come together and to see how many people are on their side."

Hennan says Canada and Saskatchewan has one of the highest rates of Multiple Sclerosis in the world, which could be attributed to a genetic or environment component, including the lack of sunshine in the winter.

The MS Walk in Eastend is happening on May 1. Individuals or teams can register online at mswalks.ca.
