The Center has been a staple in the Swift Current community for a number of years.

It aims to not only provide youth with a safe environment in which to socialize and learn but also runs a number of programs which benefit youth within the community.

Nathan Wiebe, Program Director at The Center, says they are enhancing the services available by offering some additional programs.

"On Thursdays, we have free guitar lessons, we have two classes this year, we have a beginner and advanced class. Kids can come if they haven't even touched a guitar and we give them one," he said. "Starting February 7th and running on the 14th and 21st, we have an art program that is being taught by employees of the Art Gallery. Kids from grades 6-12 who love art and want to learn art are welcome to come."

Along with their weekend drop in evenings, another popular program run by The Center is the free hot meal program served to kids in grades 6-12 every Wednesday at 4:30pm.

"We initially had talked with SGI and we had received a grant from them for an amount of money that allowed us to serve meals, and you know kids don't necessarily get a great meal at home every night," Nathan added. "A lot of families do need help in feeding their kids, so this is a service we're willing to provide and able to provide."
