It's another tool for spreading AMBER Alerts to the public whenever a child is abducted.

Canada's wireless carriers and the federal government have teamed up to start the Wireless AMBER Alert Service.  AMBER Alerts issued by RCMP and other police forces will be sent by text message to wireless customers who sign up for the service.

 

All major wireless carriers in Canada are taking part, including SaskTel, TELUS, and Rogers.
