Saskatchewan has put a halt to a proposed nuclear power plant.

Energy Minister Bill Boyd says, a proposal from Ontario-based Bruce Power for a large-scale plant will not move forward.

The report suggested that a site somewhere between Prince Albert and Lloydminster on the North Saskatchewan River could be the location of a nuclear power plant by about 2018.

Boyd says there are lingering cost concerns, but he says the door is not closed to the province using nuclear power in the future.
