On Wednesday, October 17, we are helping make life a little brighter for children facing critical illnesses.

Children's Wish Day is a partnership between Golden West and the Children's Wish Foundation to help grant wishes to children right here in our province. Every donation, big or small, will help bring happiness to a child that needs it the most.

"The child gets to choose their one most heartfelt wish," said Kristen Grenchi, Development Coordinator for Children's Wish. "There are typically travel wishes and celebrity wishes and item wishes. We really work to customize wishes as best we can to allow them to meet the child's needs. Our wish coordinator will work with the family to talk through the wish and find the best fit and help to grant that wish for them.

"The impact is profound," she added. "We found there is an impact on emotions, on distraction, and there is a physical impact, and these are impacts that last. To know there is statistical research showing that this wish is powerful beyond words is really something special."

The Children's Wish Foundation recently granted its 25,000th wish, but there are many more still to be granted in Saskatchewan.

"We have over 120 pending wishes here in Saskatchewan, which means a child has been approved but hasn't taken their wish yet," Grenchi said. "It's really important that people find it in their hearts to give so we can allow these children to have their one most heartfelt wish."

You can make your donation online through the Children's Wish day link on Swift Current Online, or by calling 1-800-267-WISH.
