The Cypress Health Region continues to deal with an outbreak of Human Metapneumovirus in a pair of its health facilities.

The virus was detected late last week at the Palliser Care Centre in Swift Current, and just a few days ago at the Shaunavon Long-Term Care Facility.

Medical Health Officer, Dr Khami Chokani says although the virus has been around for years in other parts of the world, it's only appeared in Saskatchewan as recent as last year.

Visitor restrictions are still in place at both buildings, as 23 residents at the Palliser and 9 residents in Shaunavon are currently fighting the virus.
