Matthew Tkachuk scored with 13 seconds left in quadruple-overtime to lift the Florida Panthers to a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in game one of the NHL’s Eastern Confernce Final. 

The game was the sixth-longest in NHL history and the longest for both teams. Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe scored in regulation for the Panthers and Sergei Bobrovsky made 63 saves in the win. 

Game two of the series is Saturday night in Raleigh. Game one of the Western Conference Final between Vegas and Dallas is tonight.

In the WHL, the Seattle Thunderbirds can claim the Ed Chynoweth Cup and a spot in the Memorial Cup with a home win over the Winnipeg ICE tonight. The T-Birds took a 3-1 lead in the series with a 4-2 win on Wednesday.

Games six and seven, if needed, will be in Winnipeg on Sunday and Monday.

Judge homers again as Yankees take series from Jays

Aaron Judge hit a two-run home run in the first inning as the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 to take three-of-four at Rogers Centre. Judge’s homer was his 12th of the season and fourth in the series. 

Bo Bichette homered for the Jays, who wrap up their ten-game homestand with a weekend set against the Baltimore Orioles. Yusei Kikuchi will start tonight's opener for the Blue Jays against the Orioles' Kyle Gibson. 

In Sask-Alta Baseball League action last night, the Richmound Rockets beat the Maple Creek Mohawks 15-6.

Murray leads Nuggets to 2-0 lead over Lakers

Canada’s Jamal Murray scored 37 points to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 108-103 comeback win over the L-A Lakers and a 2-0 lead in the NBA's Western Conference Final. Nikola Jokic had another triple-double with 23 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists for the Nuggets.

Tonight, the Miami Heat look to take a 2-0 lead on the Celtics when Boston hosts game two of the Eastern Conference Final.

Conners in contention early at PGA Championship

Eric Cole had the lead at -5 after 14 holes when first-round play was suspended at the PGA Championship in Rochester, New York. The start of the tournament was delayed by frost on the course Thursday morning. 

Corey Conners from Listowel, Ontario is two shots back in third with a 3-under 67.
