"The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" is now at the midway point as Pool A competition of the Calgary Stampede rodeo wrapped up on Monday, with a local cowboy one step closer to putting a $50,000 cheque in his pocket.

Maple Creek's Jared Parsonage went two-for-four in the bull riding, scoring an 84.5 in the first performance on Friday and another 84.5 in the final go-around on Monday. He finished fourth in Pool A with total winnings of $7000 and earned the final automatic spot from the pool in the "Showdown Sunday" round for the championship.

Parsonage finished 7th in the PBR Canada National Finals in Edmonton last fall and competed at the PBR Global Cup in Arlington, Texas, back in March.

Dakota Buttar of Eatonia is competing in bull riding for Pool B, which starts today.

Meanwhile, Dantan Bertsch of Tompkins competed in the bareback, and scored a 76.5 in day 1 and 73.5 in day 4 to finish 10th out of 11 riders and will have to wait to see if he'll make the cut for the Wild Card Saturday round.
