After much discussion, the Saskatchewan MLAs' pay cut will take effect immediately.
As a measure to address a $1.3 billion deficit in the provincial budget, legislation was passed Wednesday that will see the politicians take a three and a half percent rollback.
Public-sector wages and municipal leaders with wages related to the MLA pay scale will also be affected.
The 3.5% adjustment can be applied by bargaining units as it may fit situations; whether it be wage cuts or even unpaid days off to create across-the-board reductions.
With many public works pay grids set for the year, the cuts and changes will likely take effect next year.
