The city of Swift Current launched the festive season with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting this past Thursday, then the Salvation Army held the grand opening of the Miracle Room and kicked off their Christmas campaign this past Saturday and over the next couple weeks several more Christmas activities are set to go.

The Swift Current Broncos will host their annual Teddy Bear Toss Night this Saturday, Decembr 1 when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings at the iplex. Fans are reminded to bring their teddy bears, stuffed toys, toques, and mitts and when the Broncos score their first goal, throw them onto the ice to be collected and donated to the local Salvation Army.

The town of Gull Lake will open up their Christmas Cove this Saturday, December 1. The campground in Gull Lake is transformed into a tour of Christmas lights from local businesses. individuals, and organizations. Plan to take a tour through the cove this Christmas season.

The CP Holiday Train will roll into Swift Current on Thursday, December 6 and this year we get to see the train at night as it arrives in Swift Current at 8:15pm. The Salvation Army will be there with a truck accepting donations to the food bank and will also have a kettle set up for donations. CP will also make a cheque presentation to the Salvation Army to go towards the Christmas campaign.

The town of Shaunavon is hosting their annual Parade Of Lights on Thursday, December 6 to kick off the season and hold their first night of late night shopping. The Parade Of Lights is always a fantastic event that draws large crowds in Shaunavon.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Swift Current & southwest Saskatchewan.
