A power outage threw Swift Current's southside, and part of downtown, in the dark over the noon hour yesterday.

The outage happened after crews accidentally cut a powerline as they were fixing a watermain break on North Railway Street East below the 2nd Avenue overpass.

No one was injured and power was restored about a half hour later.

The work on North Railway caused the closure of the street between 1st and 3rd Avenue NE for much of the afternoon yesterday.
