The Town of Eastend has been placed on a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory as of December 9. This Advisory will be in effect until further notice.

Eastend Town Administrator, Edna Laturnus, says the Advisory was put into effect due to a lower than normal chemical levels in the water system that was detected after a routine testing. "We need to send in two consecutive sets of three samples collected twenty four hours apart from location within the town. And if those are registered correctly, then the PDWA will be rescinded."

In the meantime, residents within the town limits should boil all water for drinking purposes for at least one minute at a rolling boil prior to use, and boil any other water that will be used for other activities where it will be ingested including washing fruits and vegetables, brushing your teeth, food or drink which will not be subsequently heated, and making ice cubes.

Laturnus says the Town will notify residents when the Advisory has been rescinded, hopefully, she says, by Friday.
